Privacy Policy

Fodify (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Fodify mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Email address and password when you create an account, or identity information when you sign in with Apple or Google.
  • Profile Information: Name, age range, IBS type, dietary phase, and dietary preferences you provide during onboarding.
  • Food & Health Logs: Meals, symptoms, mood, sleep, hydration, exercise, and stool data you record in the App.
  • Photos: Food photos you take or upload for scanning. These are processed for food identification and may be stored for your journal history.
  • Chat Messages: Conversations with the AI Coach feature.
  • Food Corrections: Feedback you submit to improve food data accuracy.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage Data: App feature usage, session duration, and interaction patterns.
  • Health Data: If you grant permission, we may read step count, sleep, and other health metrics from Apple Health or Google Health Connect. We never write to or modify your health data without your explicit action.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect precise location data.
  • We do not collect contacts, call logs, or SMS data.
  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the App’s core functionality (food logging, FODMAP tracking, symptom correlation).
  • Power AI features including food photo scanning, meal parsing, and the AI Coach. Your food logs, symptoms, and profile are used to provide personalized coaching responses.
  • Generate your personal FODMAP insights and reports.
  • Send push notifications you have opted into (meal reminders, symptom check-ins, daily summaries).
  • Improve food database accuracy using aggregated, anonymized correction data.
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, or support requests.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Supabase (Database & Authentication): Stores your account, profile, and health logs. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Hosted in the United States.
  • Anthropic (AI Services): Your food photos, meal descriptions, and chat messages are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API for processing. Anthropic does not use this data to train models. See Anthropic’s Privacy Policy.
  • fal.ai (Image Generation): Food names (not personal data) may be sent to generate placeholder food images.
  • Cloudflare (Image Storage): Food photos are stored on Cloudflare R2. No personal data beyond the images themselves.
  • RevenueCat (Subscriptions): If you subscribe, RevenueCat processes your subscription status. Payment is handled by Apple or Google — we never see your payment details.
  • Law Enforcement: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal process.

4. Data Retention

  • Your account data and health logs are retained as long as your account is active.
  • You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account.
  • AI chat conversations can be deleted individually from the chat history.
  • Food photos stored in cloud storage are deleted when you delete the associated journal entry or your account.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest.
  • Database access is controlled by Row Level Security (RLS) — you can only access your own data.
  • API keys and secrets are stored server-side in Supabase Edge Functions, not in the app bundle.
  • Authentication uses secure session tokens with automatic refresh.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Delete your account and all associated data.
  • Export your data (available via the Dietitian Export feature in Settings).
  • Withdraw consent for optional data processing (e.g., health data access, notifications).

7. Children’s Privacy

Fodify is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Health Information Disclaimer

Fodify is a dietary tracking tool, not a medical device. The AI Coach provides general dietary guidance based on the low FODMAP diet protocol and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult your doctor or registered dietitian for medical decisions.

9. Apple Health & Google Health Connect

  • We only access the specific health data categories you explicitly authorize.
  • Health data is used solely within the App to correlate with your food and symptom logs.
  • We do not share raw health data with any third party.
  • You can revoke health data access at any time in your device’s Settings.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App and updating the “Last updated” date.
